Bajaj

Bajaj is one of the public transport in Jakarta. Is a three wheeler where only two passenger at a time can be transported to a destination. To start the bajaj engine is not by the mean of turning a key. One have to pull a string to start the engine. Multiple pulls might be required if the engine does not start immediately. This sounds as if it is a lawn mover.. hehehe.. The gear transmission is similar to a classic scooter named Vespa. Where the clutch level is pressed and twist the handle to change gear level. There we go, a hybrid machine for tranporting people. I wonder is they can cut grass like a lawn mover.. hmmm.. Below is a few photos of bajaj.

A line of bajaj, waiting for passengers. They have to compete with other public transport. So I guess is not easy to get customer to take bajaj.

I saw this bajaj was moving to and fro on this street a few times. Carrying students to school. Hmm.. how did I know? I must be standing for quite some time. Aiya what am I doing..

Oh Bajaj.... *sigh*

Got a bad experience... though I still use bajaj everyday.

About 3 years ago, I took a bajaj from my office, want to go to Pasar Baru, near the Train Station - Gambir, suddenly there're 2 men on a motorcycle tried to steal my bag. The man grabbed my bag very hard and I tried to keep it, so there's a fight between me and the robber. The bajaj driver was terrified so he tried to run the bajaj as fast as he could but it ended up upside down because the bajaj driver lost the balance of the vehicle.

Luckily, the robber didn't get my bag but the result was the bajaj's window got broken, my bag also broken, then my handphone cracked, my skirt was torn and the worst part I got a lot of bruises all of over my body (scratch on my cheeck, foot's tumb nail broken, etc.).

So, for anyone who want to use bajaj, please be careful especially when the bajaj has to stop in the traffic light or traffic jam.

It's 19.23 now.

Flood around Jakarta rite now, you probably can take pictures of it.

I'm stuck now in my office because, the flood already reach to the knee, can't go anywhere...

Just had a look the flood, cars are flowing in the flood.

fyi, my office is infront of Monas :)

Sorry to hear that. The good news is you are ok. Glad to know that. Even in a taxi with the door not lock, worries me too. Sometime I have to do the locking. Wouldn't you have alternative transport?

Thanks for your suggestion. I wish I was there to capture the flood moment. I am back in Malaysia for 2 days.

Hmm.. Monas. Heard of it. Can't remember where is it. Is a monument? Hope I don't sound silly. I will ask around about the location.

Currently, I am place opposite of Meridien Hotel.

Finally, last night, I arrived at home around 11.15 pm. Walked from Taman Anggrek Mall to my house about 30 minutes. Most of the vehicles in front of TA mall got stuck, they even turned off their engine. Gosh... it's really terrible.

Yes, Monas is a national monument which located infront of the Palace, U.S embassy and other government buildings. It's also near Jl. Thamrin.

Oh... you are on the opposite Le Meridien Hotel, that's in Jl. Sudirman which is beside Jl. Thamrin.

You really walk from TA to your house?! I always thought it is not safe to do that.

I been to Monas. Just want to confirm. Lately my memory is not good.

My friend and I were recently discussing about how we as human beings are so hooked onto electronics. Reading this post makes me think back to that debate we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further advances, the possibility of uploading our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I dream about all the time.

I truly believe that we have reached the point where technology has become one with our society, and I think it is safe to say that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as memory becomes less expensive, the possibility of copying our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I dream about every once in a while.

Electronic memory,to me, is something that I seem to be unable to ever have enough of. It's as if megabytes and gigabytes have become a permanent part of my day to day existence. Ever since I bought a Micro SD Card for my Nintendo DS flash card, I've been on permanent watch like a prison guard for high memory at low prices. I feel like I'm going insane.
