Water rationing, more like they are selling water to neighboors. From the looks of it, very environmental friendly. No fuel use in tranporting the water, so no air polution.
Taken this one from center of a bridge. There were people talking near me, but I dare not listened to them, but looks like they saying something to me.. ignore ignore.. just shoot photos.. I am done.. bye bye guys..
I was testing the camera options to create different outcome. The one on the right look likes water color.
The one on the left is negative of the actual photo. And is the same place as the above photo.
Monochrome in brown. I find the subject is good for projecting the 'old' photos. It shown the olden days houses.
Another Bajai, not sure if it is a Bajai. Those guys are playing chess. Wanted to take photos with different angle, but worried about those guys might give me a hell of a day.. hehehe.. Thanks Selba for clarification, "The vehicle in the last pic is not a bajaj though it looks kinda similiar. It called "Bemo". They have special permanent route like bus, not like bajaj, where you can ask wherever you want it to bring you around like taxi.".

Roxy journey continues

This photo was taken in monotone. Along the road a number of psuh cart is seen. They are selling food. Some of the carts is with the trader. Some of the traders were getting ready to start business. I was tempted at one point to try out the food. But it was only 4 in the evening.
The other side of the river. Some of them are houses, some are shop houses. As this is housing area, there goes the narrow street.
As I was reaching one corner, I saw this. I was thinking what was it carrying. As I was getting closer, this man was feeling water into the metal containers. This water is then sold to those who needs them. The shocking part to me was the water tank was underground and next to the river.... I was quite reluctant to take this photo, but I wanted something for me to remember.

Roxy area again...

I was crossing the road that intersect with railway, because I was curious on what is the side looks like. It is the same as before I cross the road. There is a bicycle hanging back of the house. Maybe not much space left in the house.

Then I brave myself into the small gang way just to fill in my blanks or question marks, "What does looks like in the front of these houses?" So I was there with this photo. Everyone there was staring at me. Hmm.. I am still one piece today. As in the photo, the right side is a wall separating the houses and the railway.
Went back to the main road, which is spearated by a river. Then strolled to see more. I guess I have not enough of these houses and it's surrounding. This intrigued me, a car in the house. How did it manage to get in there? My coward overtakes my curiosity. So no answer to it. More photos to come...

Railway Traffic Light

Ding! Dong! Ding! Dong!... I heard this bell sound before. Yup.. the sound of warning that a train is passing by soon. As the picture on the left, human is crossing the rail road that jelled with tarmac... so no train is coming.

A photo of the traffic light in silhoutte.
I was waiting for the train to arrive so I can catch a picture of it. This railway is in the city itself. Which I find it odd. As where I am from I don't see such railway except in rural area. It is quite dangerous since the cross road is a busy one. And human is administrating the road block on train crossing event. It is an experience in the city.. hmm.. any other city with this facility?

Komilet, Kopami, Metro Mini

Komilet, Kopami, Metro Mini are the buses found in Jakarta. I get to know more about this buses from Selba. Actually the names are the bus companies name.
I can't recalled the comapny name of this bus. My first time seeing this vehicle, it looks like mini lorry convert to public transportation. And I have tried this machine. The seat is just a bucket plastic. Luckily my butt is meaty, so the seat is not so bad.
Komilet Jaya, short Komilet. Hmm.. have I been into this bus. Guess not.
Metro Mini, yup another bus of different shape.

Good thing about buses in Jakarta are the shape will tell me the different companies buses. One thing till today, I don't know where the buses goes to. The fare is reasonably low. With this low fares don't expect a comfort ride. But think about the low cost of travelling in short distance it is much much cheaper compare to taxis. Don't try this if you are not ready for the unwanted events. I have heard a few which I have mentioned earlier.

Tongseng

A delicacy using mutton and it is called 'Tongseng'. The mutton is boiled using charcoal. As the local mentioned to me that 'Tongseng' is a nice food. So I was at the street beside Metropolitan I and saw this stall.
The man is prepairing the ingredient in bowls for those eat-in customer. The charcoal is being fan to get a heat or sometime fire to cook the soup. They do take-away service.

This stall business is very good. It finished business within half and hour to 45 minutes. So imagine that those wanted to taste the food, have to be there to find it was sold out. I did missed it a few times. Besides, the mutton is used in fried rice. I even get to choose the level of spicy of the food. I always opt for the most spicy in the fried rice. As for the soup it is standard.

Those in Jakarta, if you are curious what it taste like, get a local to take you there. It is different from Malaysia 'Sup Kambing'

Surrounding Roxy Mas (part2)

At one end of this road there are a number of stalls selling food. I was tempted to tried out the food there, I was held back after thinking twice. The reason was the river behind it. Don't want to get additional taste.
Here is a close look at one of the stall. I used this stall as my subject cause it was the most striking colored stall. This stall is selling deep fried, barbeque, soup and grill food. The dishes listed is my favourite food. Not going to take it there.
Front of Roxy Mas complex. A colorful one. Mobile phone is the major product being sold in this building. I once bought a mobile phone here. T68 Ericsson. Now it is with my mom.

Surrounding Roxy (part1)

This post is continuation from "Another side of Jakarta" post.

There are alot of this small vans beside Roxy Mas a shopping complex. I have seen this at many places. Commonly found next to shopping complexes. If I am not wrong, it is called Komilet. I have used this public transportation once. I have heard people get robbed when they are in this Komilet. Yup only one color that is blue. Haven't seen it in different color.

Opposite of the Roxy Mas complex is this whole stretch of houses. These houses were separated from main road by a river. The river was not clean at all. When I was there to do photos grabbing, I can get the stench. I have no choice, in the name of photography I have to sacrifice my nose. The funny part is I got used to it.

I was quite happy to see reflection in the river. This really make the photos looks better. For photo taking I didn't have a better machine with me. Can't do more wonders to the place.

How often do this kind of place comes by. That was my first time seeing such place. It might not be a blessing but at least it told me a lot. How lucky I am today or at the point of writing this. Teached me not to have high expectation in life. Be happy with what I have or what I can get. And live life with less stress. How I hope this is always the case. But the world I live in, is never that easy.

Glodok Station

This surpirsed me. I was there and a Jakarta friend waiting for a bus to get back home. There were so many people cramped in the waiting area of a station at Glodok. When the bus arrived, the door opened and everybody wanted to get in the bus. Then a bus operator controlled the number of passenger getting into the bus. Those can't get in will wait at the platform. And when the bus moved the station door closed. That's what you can see in the photo above. Phew.. come our turn, we managed to get into the bus and no need to wait outside the station on the platform.
My previous post in this blog about people not getting into the bus without buying tickets is proven wrong.

Starbucks in Metropolitan

So I have decided to go there for a drink. As one of my colleague is leaving Jakarta for Kuala Lumpur for good. So we decided to get him to treat us.

I cannot remember the named of this drink, anyway it is ice in coffee with milk. Even the tissue was printed with logo. If it would have the word Jakarta on it, I would have kept it as a souvenir.

There was a story to this picture. The girl sitting behind her notebook.. I don't think I want to tell the story. This was what the interior looks liked. Not much different compared to K.L.

This was the counter where the drinks were purchased. I remembered one of them can command a good English. But I did Indonesian with them.

These are sweets for after drink. There were few flavors. And the sweets were stored in different size of container. I purchased 2 of them.

A separate counter for self-serviced. Straws, milk, sky juice, tissue, sugar, brochures and I don't know what else.

These are the sweets that I bought. Actually I was questioning myself, should I buy it in K.L. or in Jakarta. Then I decided to buy it in Jakarta. And I did the right thing. When I was in K.L. buying drinks from a Starbucks counter, I only found one of them. hehehe.. until today I have not opened any one them yet. Hmm.. will the sweet melt?

World Trade Centre can be seen from inside the coffee outlet.

Later in the evening, I was leaving this coffee haven. More and more people appeared in this haven. It was getting dark soon out there.

A coffee banking outlets. This Starbucks outlet is open in conjunction with a bank and the bad news is I don't remember the name of the bank.. poor me.. so customer can do banking and have coffee at the same time. But I guessed it is more of doing coffee and not banking..

Good Testimonial

I was looking at the counter, just curious if my blog have any viewer. Came across a viewer. As usual want to check out who is this the surfer, oh.. is a company. Wow! my blog is use as a good testimonial of a project. I don't mind the blog being used as a reference.

But the funny part is the project was not solving the city problem of transportation. Not to discredit them. Just that I find it funny, a minor good testimonial was taken as a success.

I have not really complete my comments on the special busway created.

1) It reduce the width of the road where it can of good use for other vehicles.
2) It was created on the city busy road. It was always an experience when after office hour where the jam is not bearable.
3) It was more like for city tranportation rather than residential.

Anyway, I do not want to comment more. As I am no judge for others.

Chinese New Year is very near.. preparing for the clebration?
