The other day a friend in Jakarta email-ed me a map of public transportation. Here is the map.
Some of the public bus is available for public. Some in construction. The bus is the busway I mentioned earlier. For rail transportation, those big train is also available. But not the light rail. The other day I was hoping to see Jakarta version of light rail transit. And now I don't even know if I have the chance to even ride one.. hmm..

Holy Places
From the army camp, I walk to search for the big modern mosque. I happened to pass a area where the train travel. This is my first time seeing a train rail elevated like LRT in Kuala Lumpur. My first deduction upon seeing a train moving on an elevated rail, "LRT in Jakarta, me want to try." hehe.. Beneath the rail was a number of homeless people. I wanted to take photo of them. Hmm.. gue takut terkencing di seluar.. didn't want to mess with them.
As the train passed by, I seen people on top of the train. Hmm.. first thought was.. dangerous.. on the second thought.. hehehe.. it is quite fun! How do I get a chance to do this? Myabe never. But if I get to do it I will do it.
I was looking the mosque. Since I was not sure where, I started to guess the location by looking at the pointy structure. There are a few big gates and small gates. I entered the compound through the small gates. The mosque is called 'Istiqlal Mosque' I then walked along the outside of the mosque to look for the church.
As I was turning corner, I found the church.
Taken this photo when I was infront of it. As I was so occupied with the church. I didn't notice the main entrance of Istiqlal Mosque was at the back of me.
There were alot of 'gerobak' infront of the mosque. Below are some photos of the Cathederal and the mosque.

Palace..
On one Saturday, I finally managed to haul me ass to Monas again. My target was to pay a visit to holy places nearby. One is the Istiqlal Mosque and the other is Cathedral a church. It was the lazy me that tempted the adventurous me not to go out. And here I am.
As the bus was passing Bank Indonesia, there was a demonstration going on. It was really a large group. First saw it, I was scared. After a few seconds, it look safe because they look peaceful. From the next day newspaper, the march into Monas was related to closing of church. I got out from Monas busway station. It was quite a walk before I get to take a photo. There is a palace opposite one of the entrance to Monas. As I was about to cross the road to get closer, I saw a guard in a cemented hut. He was there not moving for quite sometime. Hmm.. it should be okay if I just got a little closer to have a better view. As I started to cross, corner of my eyes I saw something moving. I froze on the spot. I was shocked to see an army with an automatic weapon. So I gave up the idea of crossing the first half of the road for better photography. Don't want to get myself into a messy situation. There and then I took this photo. As I walked along the palace I seen more army standing near the trees, camouflaging themselves to the trees.
From far I saw a big building. There was no army along this building. So then I dared myself to cross the road to this building. Is Makamah Agung, a court house.

Sate in Jakarta
Last nite, me tried sate with a friend. The sate stall was located at Jln Sabang, near Sarinah complex. There are many stalls to be found. The first stall we past by has alot of customer, but not on Jln Sabang. But the one we were looking for is called Pak Herri on Jln Sabang. As we entered Jln Sabang, we started to look for Pak Herri's stall. Found the stall. But there wasn't any customer at this stall. Hmm.. 'Should we eat here?', for me any stall will do. So I have to play the tourist role. 'Any stall that you think is good', was my answer to 'Which stall you would like to try.' Hehehe.. I felt funny looking at my friend deciding the place. Then my friend asked someone to recommend. Of we went to Pak Herri, as that was the stall recommended. Sorry no photo of sate from this stall. Upon misson accomplished at Pak Herri stall, we walked further down the street for another sate.
This sate was dipped in different sauce. The sauce is spicy. Oh, this sate was using beef and tongue. I can't remember taking tongue from a cow. It taste good, maybe because of the sauce. And it was served on banana leaf. I cleaned up the sauce. Hehehe.. Ok, this sate is called sate padang. I would like to try this again as the sauce is good.
Actually I have tried sate at a number of places. Most of them look like the photo on the right. The satay is already dipped with sauce. I saw this sate outside a restaurant selling ice cream and drinks. I have to order the sate first before going into the restaurant. This sate was bigger in size. Bigger in size mean bigger in price. Usually the sate of 10 sticks cost no more than 10,000 rupiah. This satay cost me 15,000 rupiah! 'Aiya I can afford la', as I was arguing within my self.
This was what the stall looks like. It sat itself at the entrance to the restaurant selling ice cream. The sate was cooked over a charcoal stove. I was wondering how did the guy carry that thing around. Hmm.. What I can think of is maybe there is a small lorry to carry it back. It sound feasible. This where I placed my order. Then I went in then came out again to take this photo.
There were many people in there. Almost out of table for me to take my sate. Beside the sate, I order an orange juice and a mineral water. The location of this sate is behind Istiqlal Mosque. There was a few restaurants located in the same block.
Ok, to summarize it. Many local mentioned the sate in Jln Sabang is famous. And I have tried it. It is good. And found new sate taste there too. I guess it is good to have a local to take us around to get the different taste of food in Jakarta. Hehehe.. not bad for me, I have a good tour guide. To my tour guide, thanks alot.

Market in Tanjung Duren
My first thought of the market would be an open space with alot of big umbrellas around. Where people traded their goods on tables. I was wrong. I kept asking where is the market. My eyes followed the direction of the finger. Huh? A building? A big building? So it was not an open space. Is a building with few floors.
As I was entering the compound of the market. Some stalls was set at the entrance. Fruits mostly were seen. Since it was a Sunday. I would have thought the market does not have that many people around. And I was wrong.
I always notice people staring at me when I included the people in the photos. This makes me worried, cause I did not get their consent to do so. 'Curi curi ambik gambor dia orang, bahaya tu'.
I was looking for the signboard of this market. Trying to know the name of this place. I was directed to this particular entry of the building. 'Pasar Tomang Barat', the market was named. The market was lively with many peolple selling variety of stuff. So I tagged along in to the building.
I was standing at the stairs looking around. Seeing what was for sale. I saw this guy squatting on the ground beside 2 wooden boxes. He was selling something. Out of curiosity I asked my friend, 'what do you call that?'. I didn't get the answer immediatlely. 'Got to ask mom', was the answer I got. Ok. Me can wait. Or I rather put it 'me have to wait'. After hanging around the stairs, the guy move his trade else where. Wanted to show you what his boxes look like. I wasn't fast enough to capture one. And this lady was playing a handheld game while waiting for customers. And it striked me, 'Isn't she old enough for that?'. Nah.. If given me a handheld game, I will be doing the same.. hehe..
Deeper into the building we went. Saw this cake stall. Selling variety of cake and 'kuih'. So I bought one and try it out. Mmm.. not bad. It tasted a little too sweet. I like sweet stuff, but not too much of it. 'Nanti gue dapat kencing manis, susah gue'. Near to this cake stall is an escalator moving up.
A big shop called Ramayana. I have been into Ramayana before. They sell clothes mostly. Didn't went in there this time. So we continued walking around and we found a stairs going up another level. Most of the stalls are closed.
One part of the floor, where food stalls were found. Some of the stalls opened. Customer were around. Mostly having drinks.
From the same place I look out and saw many stalls down there. I didn't get a closer look as we did not passed in front of it. After looking around in the market we headed back to where we came from, my friend's house.
Along the way, I saw this number 39 with word dogs on top of the number. A pet shop? Was my question. No, is a house number. I feel funny looking at it, so took a photo of it.
Lighting were line up in the air, guess it was for celebrating independence day.
Then we came to this street. A guy sitting in an armchair waiting for customer to purchase used items. I was hoping to see something interest me. None, zilch.
The flag of Indonesia is a must for every residence to respect the independence day. That is what I know from my friend. After that I went back to the hotel. Was very tired. Went to sleep like a log.. hehehe...
'Kue Pancong' was my friend's mom answer... thanks for the answer.

Tanjong Duren
I was paying a visit to friend's place. So off we went to Tanjong Duren. Took a bus from a bus stop nearby Mall Tmn Anggerik. Upon arriving the destination, I have to jump out from the bus, as it is moving once the last person is out from the bus. I was taken around the neighbourhood. Before the mini tour.
I was shown to a garden which is on the third floor. There were alot of flowers. The one flower I can named is orchid. I am not good at flowers named. There was many ants moving on this particular flower. Then I used my camera's magnifying option to take a closeup. I guessed the ant just stopped with it's silent dead post. Not for me to take photo, but to avoid notifying predators of it's present. Of course this was indeed an fantastic oportunity for me. The eyes, torns on it's abdomen are lucid in this photo. This is my first time photographing an ant this close. Hmm.. very bad of me scaring the bugger. Hehehe.. From the garden I saw an interesting structure. A number of pointy parts. I can say it is a church. I was so eager to go there to photograpgh.
So of we go to this church. As usual I was using the sun as one of the object. If not for the cross on the top of this building, it will be a castle.. hehehe.. I am wondering any English's castle in Jakarta? Actually I was looking for an open to the church. This will allow me to get a close look at the building, where I can get a closer look at the art on the building. Maybe the inside. We were trying to search for the open entrance. But to no avail.
As we were standing on the bridge. Saw the reflection in the river. The reflection was quite clear. My camera does not come with a wide angle. So I did this to get the tips of both ends. It looks great. In a chat with a local, church are rich else how the get to build a nice church. I was disappointed of not going in to the compound.
As we were going back to the house, I was invited to take a walk. I agreed as I see this as a chance to look at the surrounding area. On that day there was a lot of flag along the houses. I found out it was their Independence day, which was few days away. Talking about Indonesia Independence day, I can see the freedom they have on that day. The people can block part of the road to have their own events. It made me felt the freedom around Jakarta. I should have excepted the local invitation in joining them celebrating their independence day.
We came to a sundry shop. This shop is convenience for those staying nearby. There were tropical fishes for sales next to this shop.
Looking at this shop, reminded me of my young self, where I frequent it for tit bits and some other stuff that interest me. Then I was asked if I am interested in market nearby. So out of curiousity I agreed and I haven't been to any market in Jakarta before...

Musical Fountain
Last night I was at Monas again. Actually I was going around taking photos of holy places. But i feel like posting the musical fountain. I was there early. Waiting at the open space for the water fountain to change from a normal fountain. I was there around 6.30pm. Waiting there alone. Felt silly. What can I do. Since I was there might as well wait. 2 minutes past 7 was glowing on my handphone lcd screen. How come there still nothing happen. Hmm. Am I at the wrong place. I gave up and start moving toward the entrance to exit Monas. I heard loud noise. Is a music. My eyes were screening at head of me. There was faint light flashing far away in front. As walk closer, I then confirmed that is what I was looking for. Damn! I was at the wrong place. I walked as fast as I could. As I get to the entrance, there were so many people around. Got myself a place to enjoy the moment and snaping the photos. The crowd was applauding each time a fanstatic water spray with light was displayed. Here are some of the photos taken.

Canton Bay
A restaurant found in Mall Taman Anggerik. One of the big mall with condominium on it. The best part is eight blocks of rooms. The other management decided to treat me and my colleague. This restaurant was choosen because someone has tried out the peking duck. He said it's good.
Here was what I found on the table. A plastic mat with its restaurant name. And a choptick wrapper with its name on it too. I get to participate in selecting dishes. yum yum. Here were some of the dishes we ordered and what the place looks like.
And here is the entrance where I passed through it 4 times.
I don't know what I am posting. I am very sleepy here. Very early in the morning, I am still working. Really not a good news.
